Steve Jobs was ready to host another Apple Keynote. This one though, was not like the previous ones. It was the keynote that marked the transformation of Apple into the giant that we all know today. It was the event that shifted the entire music industry.
"That product is called iPod". This was the phrase selected by Steve Jobs himself, to introduce this promising new product developed from the Californian company. It was the most revolutionary product introduced by Steve Jobs after his second return to Apple Inc. Of course, that was the best product until the next one.
iPod was a new kind of portable media player at the size of a cigarette pack, that was capable to store and play your favourite songs. It was the portable device that was designed to take advantage of the newly introduced iTunes, then available for the Macintosh. In practice, it was a greatly designed, super portable MP3 player that could store 1,000 songs.
Later in 2003, iTunes became the first popular application that allowed you to easily purchase digital music, albums or even songs, instead of buying the a physical media (CD/LP). iPod became so popular, that disrupted the music industry, music distribution and later on the way that we started consuming media in general. But that is another story.
