Next MacBook Air will be available in multiple colours according to Jon Prosser
“The return of the colours” could easily be the title of a hypothetical movie made by Apple that will be dedicated to its Mac business. The reason is that more and more Apple products are available in multiple colours, which has been highly demanded by Apple fans around the world.
Apple is paying more and more attention to its client base and according to Jon Prosser, the next MacBook Air will follow the recent example of the colourful 2021 iMac lineup with M1 chips. This means that the familiar aluminium silver/grey/gold unibody with the black bezels around the screen will soon be abandoned by Apple.
The unibody design is expected to be available in the same colours as the M1 iMacs including a green, blue, pink, purple, silver, and gold version. The bezels and keyboard are now expected to be white, something that will definitely be a considerable change for MacBook Air.
The device is expected to be completely flat and much thinner than the current MacBook Air with Apple ditching the wedge-design of the current models.
This fresh look is expected to be more appealing to the non-pro users while at the same time Apple will be paying tribute to the iMac G3 and the iBook which were also both available in multiple colours and had white keyboard and bezels.
Contrary to the report published by Guo Ming Chi last January, Prosser mentions that the leaked design probably does include neither a MagSafe connector nor an SD card slot and has only one USB-C port on each side. Practically this also reveals Apple’s plans to maintain the MacBook Air as a series that targets primarily mainstream users.
We should also mention that it’s not been so much since the last MacBook Air with white bezels. The popular OG MacBook Air was in fact announced and launched with white bezels:
Prosser doesn’t see the upcoming MacBook Air dropping before 2022 with the best-case-scenario being the end of this year. The new MacBook Air is expected to be powered by the next M2 Apple processors.
What do you think? Do you like this design?
