New Find My AirPods Feature Is Now Available On iOS 15

Apple has just released a new firmware update for the AirPods and several Beats headphones.As always the new firmware brings bug fixes and connectivity improvements for Apple’s popular truly wireless headphones. This time though, the new firmware adds a long awaited and highlighted iOS 15 feature: Find My AirPods & Separation Alerts.

Apple has finally added one of the most anticipated features for AirPods users who are running the latest version of iOS 15, Find My support for AIrPods. Apple has now enabled users of AirPods Pro or AirPods Max devices to track their connected device through Find My app. Since, these headphones do not use an UWB chip, precision finding doesn’t work just as it does with the AirTags, but it’s still helping you to find your lost pair of compatible AirPods.

Separation Alerts on iOS 15 is a new feature that simply sends users a notification when they are moving far from their connected accessories, such as AirTags and now AirPods. If you own an iPhone running iOS 15.0.1 or later (currently in beta), then your phone will receive a notification when your AirPods are out of range.

Firmware versions

The newly release firmware is available for the following devices

• AirPods Pro

• AirPods 2nd Gen

• AirPods Max

• Beats Solo Pro

• Powerbeats 4

• Powerbeats Pro

The new firmware version for the AirPods is 4A400 while the Beats version is 4A394.
