Apple recently released a new firmware for the second-generation AirPods Pro. The new firmware version is 6F7, replacing the former 6B34 that was released back in December 2023.

Apple doesn’t disclose any specific information about what the new firmware version adds other than “bug fixes and other improvements.” However, Apple usually improves connectivity, battery life, sound quality, and ANC performance for the Pro version.

How to force update the hardware on your AirPods

There is no official way to update the firmware of your AirPods, but there is a workaround that usually forces your device to update faster. Try following this pattern:

  1. Connect your AirPods to your device and play any video or song for at least half a minute.

  2. Place your AirPods back in their case.

  3. Charge the AirPods case with a Lightning cable (not via wireless charging or MagSafe) for at least 30 minutes.

  4. Keep your iPhone close to your AirPods.

  5. Connect your AirPods to your iPhone again after 30 minutes.

This process also works with your iPad. If your AirPods aren’t updated after you complete the above steps, you can repeat them again.
