Black History Month & Apple
Apple once more remembers and commemorates Black History Month with exclusive content and accessories such as Apple Watch bands, challenges & wallpapers. “Members of Apple’s Black creative community and allies” as Apple mentions in its press release, have created exclusive content such as new wallpapers for the iPhone, a new watch face for the Apple Watch and a new special edition Sport Loop.
Black Unity Sport Loop & Watch Face
The 2023 limited edition Black Unity Sport loop features the colors of the Pan-African flag and the word Unity. It’s already available to order on Apple’s online shop and costs $49. The Black Unity Sport Band and the Black Unity Braided Solo Loop that were released in the previous years are still available to order.
New Unity Sport Loop
Apple is releasing the new Unity Mosaic Watch Face that will be soon available with watchOS 9.3. WatchOS 9.3 will be released next week together with iOS 16.3 and iPadOS 16.3. Apple hasn’t revealed a specific date; however, Apple’s new software updates will most probably be released on Monday, January 23.
New Content
The App Store will highlight games and applications “forging creative solutions for Black communities in areas such as music, banking, and gaming.”
On Apple Music, Apple will also feature the ways Black artists have contributed to music. Apple is also updating the For Us, By Us playlist and adds new episodes of The Message and other radio programmes.
On Apple TV app, viewers can view series and films curated by Dr. Jelani Cobb, dean of the Columbia University School of Journalism and a staff writer at The New Yorker and focuses on 3 pillars: “Freedom in Black,” “Love in Spite Of,” and “The Mosaic.”
Apple Fitness+ will share new workouts from Black artists and a new meditation dedicated to Black History Month. On January 30, Fitness+ will release a new episode of Time to Walk featuring the singer Patti LaBelle. Similar content will also be featured on Apple News and Apple Podcasts from influential personalities and voices.
New Wallpapers
Apple is also releasing a new Black Unity wallpaper with iOS 16.3 which will be available to set in your Lock Screen in 10 different versions / color schemes. iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max owners are privileged to enjoy an alternative appearance when the Always On Display is enabled.
We have some good news for you that do not own an iPhone 14 Pro or iPhone 14 Pro Max. We recreated the Always On version of the Unity Wallpaper which you can download in two versions alongside three versions of the main wallpaper.
