Apple announced the brand new and redesigned 2022 MacBook Air during WWDC earlier this month. The new MacBook Air is powered by the M2 chip, which is Apple’s first 2nd generation chip designed for the Mac lineup of computers.
The new 2022 MacBook Air, alongside the 2022 13-inch MacBook Pro, were the first Macs powered by an Apple chip (M1) in late 2020 and are once again the first ones updated with the brand new M2 Apple chip.
The M2 MacBook Air has been redesigned from the ground up and resembles the design of the 2021 MacBook Pro. Apple ditched the iconic wedged design of the MacBook Air for the first time since the original model was introduced. The MacBook Air has a boxy design, thinner black borders around the larger 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display and a notch. Apple is using a notch in order to fit the larger sensor of the new 1080p webcam at these thinner bezels. MagSafe charger is back on the MacBook Air as it happened with the 2021 MacBook Pro. This means that you can charge your MacBook Air with the MagSafe charger and still have two free USB-C ports.
The 2022 MacBook Air is available in four colours: silver, space grey, midnight and starlight. The Midnight finish is basically a dark navy blue colour which makes the new M2 MacBook Air look really fresh. Interestingly enough, Apple is color matching the accompanied MagSafe braided cable with the color of the MacBook Air.

The new MacBook Air will be released in July 2022. The 2022 MacBook Air demand is expected to be very high at launch. This means that the in-store availability of the new laptop will be quite limited for the upcoming 2-3 months.
