Apple September 7 Event: What's Expected

We are just minutes before Apple’s iPhone 14 event dubbed Far Out starts (click here for the local time in your country). This is the most anticipated Apple Event of each year since the iPhone is Apple’s best selling product. Read below what we expect in more detail.

iPhone 14 Series

Apple is expected to unveil once again four iPhone models: a 6.1-inch iPhone 14, a 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Plus (or Max), a a 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro and a 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max. In case you didn’t just notice, we do not expect a brand new iPhone 14 mini. Apple will ditch the 5.4-inch iPhone variant this year. A larger 6.7-inch variant similar to the one available in the Pro lineup will be available instead.

The overall design of the iPhone 14 Pro is also expected to remain similar to its predecessor with two changes. Apple is expected to get rid of the notch for the first time since its introduction back in 2017 when the iPhone X was released. Moreover, a larger camera bump due to the new camera sensors is also going to be noticeable on the back. We also expect a new purple color to replace last year’s Sierra Blue.We may also see a new Green color according to some reports alongside the anticipated Graphite (or Black), Silver and Gold. There are many rumors about a new astrophotography mode and a new satellite connection used by iPhone 14 Pro owners in case of an emergency. A new A16 Bionic chip, new front facing camera with AF, a new 48MP main wide angle lens, different base storage and a price increase are also expected.

The two non-pro models are expected to maintain the overall design of the iPhone 13 series with a slightly larger camera bump due to the use of new camera sensors. Unverified sources claim that the upcoming non-pro iPhone models will be available in white, black, blue, red, and purple. The iPhone 14’s might also not get a completely new chip inside. They may just receive a revamped version of last year’s A15 Bionic.

Apple Watch

Apple will also unveil the Apple Watch Series 8. Apple is expected to release two variants: a 41mm and a 45mm version which are expected to look identical to the Apple Watch Series 7. However, we also expect a larger Apple Watch with a 1.99-inch display, more features and perhaps a slightly differentiated design. This watch has been reportedly made to compete directly with more expensive sports and fitness-focused smartwatches such as some watches made by Garmin. The new Apple Watch model is expected to be priced approximately 2X the price of the regular Apple Watch.

During the last days the alleged CAD files of the new Apple Watch were published online and revealed a new design. This is how it could look like according to the renders made by Ian Zelbo.

Apple is also expected to upgrade the Apple Watch SE with better internals but keep the exact same design as the current Apple Watch SE model.

AirPods Pro 2

It is also rumoured that Apple will reveal the successor to the original AirPods Pro during today’s event. The AirPods Pro 2 are expected to have the same design as the first generation with some small design adjustments in the AirPods themselves. The case is expected to have speakers on the bottom so that users can hear a sound when they try to locate their AirPods Pro through Find My. A new microphone (looks like a lanyard holder) is also expected to be there on the case which is designed to assist people with hearing problems. We also hope that Apple could release additional colors for these but most importantly we expect Apple to announce much better audio quality through a new Bluetooth protocol such as Bluetooth 5.2.

Base iPad

According to some rumours we may see a redesigned based iPad today. The base iPad is expected to combine its iconic design with the design language introduced back in 2018 with the iPad Pro. Square housing with Touch ID button on the front. The most certain scenario expects a reveal of the base iPad in October, however it isn’t unlikely to see Apple unveiling the base iPad today just as it happened last year.

What are you mostly excited about today?
