New AirPods 2/3, Pro 1/2 & AirPods Max Firmware Released

Article Update: Apple releases the same firmware version for the AirPods Gen 2, Gen 3, AirPods Pro Gen 1 and the AirPods Max alongside the AirPods Pro Gen 2.

New Version

Apple has released a new firmware for the AirPods Pro 2. The new firmware version is 5B58 replacing the former firmware version 5A377.

Apple doesn’t disclose any information related to any changes coming with this version. However, Apple usually improves connectivity, battery life, sound quality and/or ANC performance with each new firmware update.

How to check your current firmware version

You can easily check the current firmware version of your AirPods / AirPods Pro by following the below steps on iOS 16 or iPadOS 16:

  1. Connect your AirPods to your iPhone or iPad

  2. Go to “Settings”

  3. Find and select your AirPods (for example, "9TechEleven’s AirPods Pro").

  4. Scroll down to “Version” and check your current Firmware version. You can also tap on version and check the version of your case as well.
