The iPhone 14 Event Has Been Officially Announced by Apple
Apple has officially sent out the invitations for the most awaited Apple Event of the year. The event where the new iPhone 14 and the Apple Watch 8 series will be unveiled. The event is taking place on Wednesday, September 7 2022 at 10:00 am Pacific Time.
The name of the event is “Far Out” which may hint at some of the features of the upcoming iPhone models: a new astrophotography mode or a satellite connectivity on the iPhone 14 and Apple Watch Series 8 as an emergency feature. We have create a new set of wallpaper for the iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch based on the event invitation.
Apple is gradually going back to the traditional in-person set up of its special events. Press members, reviewers and media have been invited to travel to Cupertino and watch live the event at the Steve Jobs theatre. While it is certain that there will be a live session, it remains unclear whether the entire event will be held live or in a hybrid format similar to WWDC ‘22.
iPhone 14 Series
Apple is expected to unveil once again 4 iPhone models: a 6.1-inch iPhone 14, a 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max, a a 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro and a 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max. In case you didn’t just notice, we do not expect a brand new iPhone 14 mini. Apple will ditch the 5.4-inch iPhone version and release a larger 6.7-inch variant similar to the one available in the Pro lineup.
The two non-pro models are expected to maintain the overall design of the iPhone 13 series with a slightly larger camera bump due to the use of new camera sensors. Unverified sources claim that the upcoming non-pro iPhone models will be available in white, black, blue, red, and purple.
The overall design of the iPhone 14 Pro models is also expected to remain similar to its predecessors with two changes. Apple is expected to get rid of the notch for the first time since its introduction back in 2017 with the release of the iPhone X and a larger camera bump due to the new camera sensors. The same aforementioned source claims that the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will be released in graphite, gold, silver, and purple while we also heard about another green option.
Apple Watch Series 8
Apple will also unveil the Apple Watch Series 8. Apple is expected to release two variants: a 41mm and a 45mm version which are expected to look identical to the Apple Watch Series 7. However, we also expect to be surprised by Apple as there are intensified rumours about the release of a larger 47mm Apple Watch with a 1.99-inch display, more features and perhaps a slightly differentiated design.
Apple is also expected to upgrade the Apple Watch SE with better internals but keep the exact same design as the current Apple Watch SE model.
Outsiders
The AirPods Pro have been one of the most successful Apple products but are almost 3 years old. Apple is expected to replace the current model with the brand new AirPods Pro 2 which are expected to be unveiled by the end of 2022. According to some rumors, Apple may be unveiling the AirPods Pro 2 during the “Far Out” Apple Event next week.
The same rumours claim that Apple may be ready to release a refreshed version of the base iPad during this event. However, it seems that Apple may be ready to host another Apple Event in October where more iPad models, including the base variant, will be announced.
Operating Systems - New Features
iOS 16 and watchOS 9 will not be a direct part of the Event, however new features of both operating systems are expected to be unveiled as exclusive features of the new hardware that will be presented during the event such as the alleged Always-On display of the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max and new health features on the Apple Watch Series 8.
Apple is also expected to announce the official release dates of iOS 16 and watchOS 9 to the public.
