Apple Introduced New Battery Health Information on iOS 17.4
Apple's iOS 17.4 beta 4, released today, introduced a new feature for visualizing battery health more comprehensively. Located in the Battery section of the Settings menu, this update provides detailed information about the iPhone's battery condition next to the Battery Health subsection. In this beta version, this new feature is only available for the iPhone 15 models only.
When you tap "Battery Health," it leads to the familiar submenu with additional details. This submenu confirms the battery's health status, typically indicating "Normal" if the battery is functioning well. Further, a new option labeled "About Battery & Warranty" offers even more information, enhancing users' understanding of their device's battery health and warranty status. Here’s the message by Apple that is displayed there:
“About Battery & Warranty
iPhone batteries, like all rechargeable batteries, have a limited lifespan and may eventually need to be serviced or recycled.
The original battery was designed to retain 80% capacity at 1000 cycles under ideal conditions. Actual battery performance depends on a number of variables, including how iPhone is used and charged regularly. The one-year warranty includes service for defective batteries in addition to rights provided under local consumer laws.
Built-in dynamic software and hardware systems help counter impacts to performance that may occur as your battery ages. “
