Apple Studio Display In The Works
Apple is reportedly working on a new display with 7K resolution and a cpu inside it. According to 9to5mac.com, Apple‘s codenamed J327 display, is also mentioned internally as Apple Studio Display. This may or may not be the final commercial name of the new Apple display.
The A13 Bionic chip is allegedly powering the prototype units. This means that the displays could bring some smart features (such as auto display calibration, auto brightness, improved AirPlay support etc.).
Interestingly enough, Bloomberg also reported last January that Apple has been working on a new display that is expected to cost about half the price of the current Pro Display XDR. The reason for this is both a drop in the manufacturing cost and a specification compromise by Apple.
Our Opinion
Apple already delivers a computer with a 24” 4.5K display for $1299; the 2021 iMac with the M1 chip. This proves that Apple is already capable of producing a 24” 4.5K display for less than $1299. Hence, we should be optimistic about the release of a new more affordable display by Apple during the next months.
